The Illusion of Life – 12 Principles of Animation

Join some of the world’s leading animators for an intensive day focussing on The Illusion of Life – 12 Principles of Animation. This is an all-day Masterclass being held at the Design Centre, Enmore. A light lunch will be included on the day. Speakers include: David Williams, Alex Weight, Magali Riguadias, Andrew Silke, Chris Ebeling.
David Williams, Lead Animator, Animal Logic. David started making traditional animation at the age of 15, producing numerous stop- motion shorts with puppets and clay. His short film Humbert was well received on the festival circuit and led to work on television commercials, interstitials, and the series Leunig Animated for SBS TV. Since making the jump to CG in 2003 his film credits have included: LEGO®: Piece of Resistance, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, and Happy Feet.
Alex Weight, Writer/Director. Alex has been working professionally in 3D Animation and VFX for 18 years with experience at Rising Sun, Animal Logic, and Flying Bark. His film credits include: George of the Jungle 2, Happy Feet, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole (Animation Supervisor), The Woodlies (Animation Director), Blinky Bill: the Movie 2015 (Director). He is currently writing and directing animated feature films for a production company in China.
Magali Rigaudias, Lead Animator, Animal Logic. Magali has worked on feature films for ILM, Animal Logic, Dr. D, Marza Planet Animation (Tokyo), Flying Bark, Base FX (Beijing), and Iloura. Her film credits include: Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Star Wars I & II, Mars Attacks, Happy Feet 1 & 2, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, Maya the Bee, Monster Hunt and Gods of Egypt. Magali has also been a guest masterclass instructor for Studio Gobelins.
Andrew Silke, 3D Animator & Filmmaker. Andrew is an award-winning animator and 3d generalist whose credits include: Gravity, Avatar, the Harry Potter films and the Happy Feet movies. An AFI nominee and the creator of the short films Cane-Toad and Samurice, both which featured in the SIGGRAPH Electronic Theatre. Andrew now runs create3dcharacters.com, a company dedicated to teaching the entire Maya character pipeline and is a lecturer at UTS.
Chris Ebeling, Animator & 3D Artist, Animal Logic. Chris has worked in feature film, television and videogames for over 8 years. In addition to his own film and games projects, his feature film credits include: LEGO®: Piece of Resistance, The Great Gatsby, and Happy Feet 2.
