How Not To Go Broke For A Living

Speakers include: Nick Hore and Patricia Kung from Animal Logic, Murray Debus (who has 30 years’ experience as a Director and Animation Director across feature films, TV series and TVC).
As working in industry settles into a rhythm of contract and serial employment for a significant proportion of the workforce, this Masterclass has been designed to nurture the ‘working artist’ for a lifelong career. The sessions will address how to apply for job vacancies, how to represent yourself as an independent artist and how to secure work on an independent/contract basis.
Sessions will cover: how to present your work, how to present yourself, freelance contracting and staying in work, how to calculate your charge-out rate and how to build your reputation.
Cost: $20 for Sydney ACM SIGGRAPH members in good financial standing. $50 cover charge for guests and non-members (light lunch included).
(Attendees can sign up as a new member on the day. Annual Membership fees are $50 for professionals and $25 for students)

Probably best known for the annual SIGGRAPH International conference on computer graphics for film, televisions and new media industries, ACM SIGGRAPH also puts on a variety of programs year-round and worldwide to benefit the SIGGRAPH community.
