Sydney ACM SIGGRAPH is thrilled to have VFX Supervisor – Director, Paul Butterworth from Fuel VFX return with another feature film case study to wind up our events calendar for 2013. If you enjoyed last year’s excellent presentation on Prometheus, you know this will be an amazing presentation and if you missed last year’s end of year session, make sure you don’t miss out this time!

Cost: Free for Sydney ACM SIGGRAPH members in good financial standing. $5 cover charge for refreshments for guests and non-members.

Storytelling Masterclass

This one-day masterclass will cover the elements of story craft, point-of-view, and how visual effects work to build the story. The class will include a case study that breaks down the structure of a film, showing how all these elements work together to create a satisfying film narrative.

Cost: Free for Sydney ACM SIGGRAPH members in good financial standing. $35 cover charge for guests and non-members.

Coffee and light refreshments will be provided in the breaks. Parking is available on the campus at Enmore.

Storytelling: the narrative power of visual effects in film

VFx is the most significant tool set for storytellers since the advent of moving pictures. This talk will cover the unique ways VFx work to enhance and build storycraft and will be of interest to filmmakers and VFx artists. This session has been scheduled as a preview for the October 26 Storytelling Masterclass which will expand on the elements of film storytelling and will include a case study of how visual effects can be used to establish the story world in feature films.
